George Brown was imitating his favorite plates of Audubon's Birds of America at age 12, and by 9th grade a steady stream of commission work - mostly bird paintings - was keeping him busy. There was no doubt an art career was in his future!
An education in Texas and a career in advertising followed, always with art as a feature. Meanwhile, his paintings grew larger. On a vacation to Canada he made a side trip to view his favorite Salvador Dali painting which is 10 ft x 4 ft. Seeing the scale of this painting was an inspiration, and George's work took off from there.
He is currently working on 10 large surrealist works in oil on canvas that represent human creativity, using a 15' tall easel in a purpose-built studio in Vineyard Haven.
George Brown is represented on Martha's Vineyard by Louisa Gould Gallery at 54 Main Street, Vineyard Haven.
